About this role

The CT Technologist applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment. Provides direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. Assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans.

Performs computed tomography procedures, including proper patient positioning on scanning cradles and immobilization with devices. Makes radiation exposures per physician request and patient history. Administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contrast agents, and performs intravenous injections.

Maintains working knowledge of CT IT systems like Radiant and PACS. Participates in on-call rotation as required. Opportunities to assist radiologists with biopsies and drainage procedures using sterile techniques.

Requirements

  • Certification and Registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
  • Advanced modality registration in CT, ARRT (preferred, or must obtain within 1 year)
  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required prior to direct patient care)
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state)
  • Associate's from an ARRT accredited institute (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience as CT or Rad Tech (preferred)
  • Computer Literacy
  • Attention to Detail

Responsibilities

  • Assures the quality of all images and confirms that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct
  • Performs computed tomography procedures
  • Performs timeout as required per policy
  • Properly positions patients on CT scanning cradles and immobilizes patients with appropriate devices
  • Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history
  • Performs intravenous injections and administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contrast agents
  • Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures utilizing sterile techniques
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS
