About this role
Performs diagnostic CT procedures within the CT Department utilizing specific equipment for that purpose. Rotates through diagnostic radiology as assigned. Involved in the practice of radiation and general safety at all times.
Prepares room, equipment, materials as needed for patient exams, including sterile technique. Cleans and disinfects rooms and equipment following each patient exam, using current infection control policies. Performs examinations per Physician’s orders and explains procedures to the patients.
Observes patient and equipment and reports any unusual occurrences or changes. Transports and assists patients as needed. Documents status of patient in reference to radiology/CT procedure on patient’s chart.
Documents variances, repeats and other such occurrences to help maintain high quality health care and opportunity for quality improvement. Maintains stock supplies, performs general office duties. Responsible for proper film labeling and following prescribed techniques.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program
- Radiography certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) within 6 months of hire
- Current or temporary Radiography license as required by state board; for WV: Radiography License, Temporary Radiography License OR Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic CT License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable)
- One (1) year of experience as a computed tomography technologist (preferred)
