About this role

Geisinger offers CT Technologist Regional Float positions for administering ionizing radiation in diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. CT Technologists perform computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures, acquiring and analyzing data for diagnosis and interpretation by licensed practitioners. They independently perform or assist in completing these procedures.

CT Technologists ensure correct orders, properly identify and prepare patients, corroborate clinical history, and document while respecting confidentiality. They utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors for patient safety, and apply ALARA principles. They prepare and administer medications through vascular access as prescribed.

Work occurs in a clinical environment where technologists evaluate images for positioning and quality, verify data storage, and assist in interventional procedures. They educate and monitor students and health care providers while demonstrating commitment to department priorities. They participate in modality quality or process improvement activities.

Fully proficient technologists handle all assigned routine and complex duties, complying with organization policies. Accountable for job-specific obligations, they support licensed practitioners in prescribed CT procedures. Additional department competencies enhance performance in this role.

Requirements

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT)
  • OR Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) and ARRT-CT
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Certified CT Technician - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)

Responsibilities

  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and documented while respecting confidentiality
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety and applying ALARA principles
  • Prepares and/or administers medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data
  • Educates and monitors students and other health care providers
  • Assists a licensed practitioner with interventional computed tomography procedures
  • Performs computed tomography procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
  • Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities

  • $6/hr. premium on top of the base pay rate
