About this role

The primary responsibility of a multi-modality technologist is to perform any 2 combination of procedures with related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. This PRN role involves all work shifts at Bon Secours. Employees handle duties across selected imaging modalities.

Technologists operate equipment and accessories while knowledgeable in workflows, procedures, and processes for two imaging modalities. They select appropriate imaging sequences considering approved protocols and factors influencing data acquisition. Patient clinical history and lab work are obtained and documented for practitioner use, including POC devices.

Safety principles are applied to minimize risks to patients, self, and others, with focus on radiation protection specific to the modalities. Patient identification is verified using two identifiers and the prescribed procedure. Venipuncture, medication/contrast administration, and power injector use follow guidelines when required.

On-call scheduling is required as needed. Continuing education and clinical requirements are met per regulatory standards. The role may include other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Certification and Registration with ARRT or RDMS or CNMT (required)
  • Required to be competent in 2 of the following: Bone Densitometry (BD), Breast Sonography (BS), Radiologic Technology (R), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Ultrasonography (S), Nuclear Medicine (N), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), Cardiac Sonographer (CS), Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Mammography (M), Vascular Sonography (VS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and obtain certification within 12 months
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
  • Meets any continuing education or clinical requirements as required by regulatory standards

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties for any 2 imaging modalities (ex: XR, CT, MRI)
  • Operates equipment, accessories and is knowledgeable in workflows, procedures and processes of the 2 imaging modalities
  • Selects appropriate imaging/sequences with consideration given to approved protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters
  • Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner
  • Applies safety principles with a focus on the 2 imaging modalities to minimize risk to patient, self and others
  • Provides radiation protection and other protection specific to the 2 modalities for the patient and others
  • Performs venipuncture including starting, maintaining and/or removing intravenous access when required
  • Scheduled for on-call as required
