About this role

Performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures by utilizing equipment and computers, employing techniques and procedures in accordance with accepted age-appropriate standards of practice. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of magnetic field strength and practice of safe entry into the magnetic field by staff and patients. Specializes in Cardiac MR procedures alongside non-Cardiac MRI.

Performs or assists in performing Cardiac MR (research, clinical) procedures and/or diagnostic tests in addition to non-Cardiac MRI procedures. Maintains working knowledge of variations in current protocols and imaging techniques for all Cardiac and non-Cardiac procedures. Ensures availability and readiness of supplies and equipment, including for emergencies.

Adheres to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communications skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building. Provides instruction, education, and consultation to healthcare personnel, students, and patients. Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age Specific Care Guidelines.

Maintains files and compiles records for accurate departmental records and reports. Participates in planning by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts. Ensures Cardiac imaging specific post processing procedures using specified software and trains staff accordingly.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of magnetic field strength and practice of safe entry into the magnetic field
  • Knowledge of variations in current protocols and imaging techniques for Cardiac and non-Cardiac procedures
  • Proficiency in Cardiac imaging specific post processing procedures using specified software
  • Ability to provide age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age Specific Care Guidelines
  • Moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies
  • Frequent stretching, bending, twisting, squatting or kneeling in daily MRI operations
  • Adherence to radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation

Responsibilities

  • Performs or assists in performing Cardiac MR (research, clinical) procedures and/or diagnostic tests in addition to non-Cardiac MRI procedures
  • Maintains working knowledge of variations in current protocols and imaging techniques for all Cardiac and non-Cardiac procedures
  • Ensures availability and readiness of supplies and all equipment including items needed for emergencies
  • Provides instruction, education, and consultation to healthcare personnel, students, and patients
  • Maintains files and compiles records according to procedure for accurate departmental records
  • Ensures Cardiac imaging specific post processing procedures, such as ROIs for calculations of ejection fraction and wall motion
  • Participates in and trains appropriate staff to use post processing software for Cardiac imaging
