About this role

Operates computed tomography (CT) equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Performs diagnostic CT examinations according to the department's policies and protocols. Position is ECB status requiring minimum worked hours per month with limited benefit offerings.

Screens, prepares, and positions patients for CT procedures with reference to diagnoses and body part. Evaluates CT studies for quality and completeness, utilizing advanced image manipulations such as 3D rendering, reformation, and reconstruction. Sends images to PACS system and verifies exams in timely manner.

Maintains radiation safety for patients, staff, and family members. Appropriately administers contrast media as directed by Radiologist. Keeps patient informed, explains procedures clearly without causing anxiety, and responds to physical and psychological needs.

Works directly with patients, internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff. Develops working knowledge of all PACS capabilities and CT equipment including laser camera.

Exercises independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in complex technical field. Maintains accurate documentation on log book worksheet and charging of examinations. Keeps work area clean and appropriately supplied.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
  • Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT registry preferred
  • 0 - 6 months related experience
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner
  • Knowledgeable of all CT equipment including the laser camera
