
About this role
Sentara Leigh in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Registered Nurse to work in the Cardiac Cath, Vascular, and IR Lab department (CVIS). Hours are 7:00am to 4:30pm working four 9.5-hour shifts per week. Team members will be required to take call.
Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse will float, monitor, scrub and work with procedures including diagnostic caths, interventions, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Left/Right heart caths, cardioversions, and Transesophageal echo. Additional procedures include vascular angiograms, vascular thrombectomies, sacroplasties, gastric tubes, and nephrostomy tubes.
The Registered Nurse performs a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process model. Standards of practice include assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards cover ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, and resource utilization.
Sentara Leigh Hospital is a 274-bed acute care facility specializing in orthopedic and spine care, heart, and vascular services. It is a recognized Primary Stroke Center and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence. The facility includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital with full continuum of care from preoperative to rehabilitation.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or MSN (Preferred)
- Virginia RN License or Compact/Multi-State Eligible
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
- Experience as Registered Nurse in Critical Care, PCU, ER, Cardiac, Stepdown or Recovery Room
Responsibilities
- Float, monitor, and scrub in Cardiac Cath, Vascular, and IR Lab procedures
- Assist with diagnostic caths and interventions
- Manage intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
- Perform Left/Right heart caths and cardioversions
- Conduct Transesophageal echo
- Execute vascular angiograms and thrombectomies
- Handle sacroplasties, gastric tubes, and nephrostomy tubes
- Apply nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
