About this role

Assists the invasive cardiologist, Interventional Radiologist, and/or vascular surgeon in the performance of interventional procedures. Shares responsibility in the acquisition and processing of state-of-the-art imaging and efficient operation of equipment in the interventional labs. Participates in hemodynamic monitoring, scrubbing, and circulating duties.

Prepares and positions patients for interventional procedures and monitors essential hemodynamic measurements throughout diagnostic and catheterization procedures. Utilizes and troubleshoots adjunct diagnostic and interventional modalities necessary to complete cases. Provides technical skills to assist the physician in performing procedures.

Maintains a safe environment for patients by instituting methods to reduce radiation exposure and ensures radiation protection protocols are followed by all staff and patients. Inventories procedure rooms, stocks as needed, and completes expired stock lists monthly. Interacts professionally with customers and staff while operating medical equipment.

Participates in cross training in all aspects of the Cardiac Cath and Interventional Radiology Lab and maintains all required CEUs for certification. Educates patients and families regarding procedures and treatments. Performs duties in accordance with C-I-CARE Standards for patient-centered interactions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years to 3 years of Cath Lab experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong knowledge of safety, quality management and Joint Commission standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and escalate to management if needed

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and position patients for interventional procedures
  • Monitor and document all essential hemodynamic measurements throughout diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures
  • Utilize and troubleshoot all adjunct diagnostic and interventional modalities necessary to complete procedures
  • Provide technical skills necessary to assist the physician in performing interventional procedures
  • Provide a safe environment for patients undergoing interventional procedures including methods to reduce radiation exposure
  • Monitor and document all X-ray exposure doses and ensure radiation protection protocols are followed
  • Inventory procedure rooms and stock as needed; complete expired stock list monthly
  • Participate in cross training in all aspects of the Cardiac Cath and Interventional Radiology Lab
