About this role
Renowned as the academic flagship of the University of Maryland Medical System, our Magnet-designated facility is a nationally recognized academic medical center with opportunities across the continuum of care. Under general supervision, perform routine and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic angiography procedures on patients following established parameters and protocols. Assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies while maintaining smooth operational flow.
Greet and receive patients, explain procedures, and position them according to the department's procedure manual. Operate technical angiography equipment, apply ionizing radiation per standard operating procedures, and provide radiation protection in accordance with regulations. Perform angiography and digital subtraction angiography utilizing sterile technique and radiographic protocols.
Monitor patient condition throughout procedures using EKG equipment, intravenous pumps, blood pressure monitors, and pulse oximeters to maintain comfort and continuous care. Report potential or actual patient or equipment issues to the Manager, Radiology Nursing, Chief Angio Technologist, or Radiologist. Recognize and respond to emergencies by utilizing CPR or contacting personnel, and maintain sterile fields for procedures.
Record and accumulate patient statistics on daily summary sheets, enter data into the radiology computer system, and track information via systems. Review patient history and pertinent films with designated Radiologist. Join a vibrant downtown Baltimore location near the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards where talents and ideas enhance patient care.
Requirements
- Certification as Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R)
- Knowledge of angiography and digital subtraction angiography procedures
- Proficiency in sterile technique and radiation safety protocols
- Ability to operate pressure injectors, laser imagers, and processor equipment
- Familiarity with interventional radiology equipment including EKG and hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience reviewing patient history and films with radiologists
- Skill in maintaining radiology information systems and patient records
Responsibilities
- Operate technical angiography equipment and apply ionizing radiation according to departmental policies and protocols
- Greet and receive patients, explain procedures, and position patients per procedure manual
- Provide radiation protection, select accurate technical factors, and critique radiographs for quality
- Perform angiography and digital subtraction angiography using sterile technique and radiographic technique
- Monitor patient condition and maintain comfort using EKG, IV pumps, blood pressure equipment, and pulse oximeter
- Set up and maintain sterile field, open sterile procedure trays, and prepare medications
- Record patient statistics, enter data into radiology systems, and identify radiographs with patient details
- Respond to emergencies with CPR or by contacting radiology nursing or medical personnel
