The Department of Cardiology Medicine seeks an hourly/per diem Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Tech to assist in cardiac non-invasive procedure-related activities. Perform echocardiography with 2-D/3D Doppler and color flow studies on adult, late adolescent, and pediatric patients in a timely manner. Conduct Stress Echocardiography on adolescent and adult patients.

Prepare echocardiograms for diagnostic interpretation, input patient demographics, and register patients in computer systems. Liaise with Information Technology on the Centricity Reporting System and respond promptly for on-calls. Maintain inventory, clinical supplies, and cleanliness of the echocardiography laboratory equipment.

Assist in orienting Cardiology Fellows, Echocardiographers, and diagnostic medical sonography students. Participate in research studies for the Cardiology Fellowship Program and maintain accurate daily patient logs. Adhere to HIPAA for patient confidentiality in a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • ARDMS or RCS Sonographer or Echo Tech Certification
  • Bachelor of Science in technical specialty (preferred)
  • CPT (preferred)
  • Ability to perform 2-D/3D Doppler and color flow echocardiography
  • Experience with Stress Echocardiography on adult and adolescent patients
  • Proficiency in pediatric and adult cardiac imaging techniques
  • Knowledge of Centricity Reporting System

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the performance of cardiac non-invasive procedure-related activities
  • Perform echocardiography with 2-D/3D Doppler and color flow studies on adult, late adolescent, and pediatric patients
  • Perform Stress Echocardiography on adolescent and adult patients
  • Prepare echocardiogram for diagnostic interpretation and preliminary impressions
  • Input accurate patient demographic information, register patients in computer systems, and maintain patients’ files
  • Provide all aspects of echocardiogram procedures related to patient care, including patient transportation
  • Respond promptly for re-calls and function independently during on-call hours
  • Assist in orienting Cardiology Fellows, Echocardiographers, and diagnostic medical sonography students
