About this role
At NorthBay Health, the Ultrasonographer I works closely under the review of the Ultrasound III and Radiologist. Under regular check-ins and supervision, coordinates daily patient schedule for U/S. Performs U/S studies and ensures correct processing and handling.
Performs ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols under the review of Ultrasonographer III. Reviews ultrasound requisitions for completeness and validity of examinations being requested. Assists and instructs patients prior to and during examinations.
Responsible for evaluating each study to ensure it meets required quality standards. Ensures patient confidentiality, safety and well-being during examinations. Inspects and cleans equipment prior to and after each patient.
Reports all equipment failures and patient complaints to the Diagnostic Imaging outpatient supervisor. Organizes and scans paperwork into the Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) and completes examination charges through the Radiology Information System (RIS). Promotes a cooperative and positive relationship with physicians and other hospital staff.

Requirements
- Graduate from approved ultrasound course
- RDMS or ARRT (Sonography) eligible; must be registered within 12 months of hire
- AHA or equivalent BLS certification
- 6 months experience preferred
- Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal age groups
- Adhere to established policies and procedures and exhibit characteristics associated with attendance and punctuality
- Ability to assist moving and transferring patients as well as moving ultrasound equipment
- Variable hours of work
