This role is responsible and accountable for the delivery of all cardiology service modalities according to the Cardiovascular Medicine clinic. The Sonographer performs cardiac ultrasounds, collaborating closely with healthcare providers to monitor standards of practice and patient outcomes. Daily duties include acting as a clinical resource while adhering to departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. Patient satisfaction remains a key focus in all interactions.
Working in the Heart & Vascular Center, the Sonographer operates within a collaborative healthcare environment serving diverse patient groups. Proficiency with ultrasound equipment and electronic health records supports seamless service delivery. Knowledge of Cerner systems enhances operational efficiency.
This position offers opportunities to maintain and demonstrate current knowledge in ultrasound and cardiology. The role emphasizes strong adherence to regulatory and professional standards. Continuous expertise ensures optimal patient care across young adult, adult, and geriatric populations.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Cardiology experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting
- Current AHA or equivalent BLS certification
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in ultrasound and cardiology
- Knowledge of providing appropriate care for patients in Young Adult, Adult, and Geriatric age groups
- Knowledge of medical terminology, office equipment, and basic computer skills (fax, multi-line phone, copier/scanner)
- Knowledge of an electronic health record required; Cerner desirable
