About this role

Cardiac Sonographer II performs routine and emergency echocardiograms in the Cardiology Nuclear Stress department at Davie Medical Center. This full-time role spans 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday from 8A to 5P. It qualifies for a $15,000 sign-on bonus and up to $5,000 relocation assistance for eligible candidates.

Demonstrates proficiency in 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms per physician requests and protocols. Records quality information during imaging procedures. Explains procedures and possible side effects to patients or family members.

Provides echocardiography services at necessary locations, including portables, with variable shifts, weekends, and emergent call coverage as scheduled. Operates equipment and ancillary devices for optimal diagnostic recordings. Analyzes patient medical records to obtain symptom history for procedures.

Maintains equipment through routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs, reporting malfunctions to the echo lab manager. Prepares preliminary reports for cardiologist review and participates in quality improvement activities. Evaluate procedure results for technical quality and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an American Medical Association approved School of Radiologic Technology, AMA approved ultrasound course, or CMA accredited program in Diagnostic ultrasound
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • One year experience with patients preferred
  • Valid Sonography credential registration (RDMS, RDCS) through ARDMS or RCS through CCI preferred
  • Must be registered in appropriate cardiology specialties within two years of hire
  • Current BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms including 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiogram as requested
  • Record quality information while performing echocardiographic imaging and following procedural guidelines and protocols
  • Explain procedures and possible side effects to the patient or family members
  • Provide echocardiography service at all necessary locations, portables, working variable shifts, weekends, and emergent call coverage
  • Operate equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and obtain optimal diagnostic recordings
  • Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and repairs
  • Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report equipment malfunctions to echo lab manager
  • Analyze patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and perform diagnostic procedures
